IRL: The Real-World OCTNews
25/06/09 - Some people misunderstood- I said I was cancelling it if nobody said that they were going to enter. Apparently there are some people still making refs / auditions, so forget I said anything.
New deadline is 1st of August. If we still don't have enough players by then, I may have to consider scrapping it again. (I will give extensions for auditions, but not refs)
23/06/09 - Well, we're just over a week from the deadline. Unless 12 people can suddenly appear out of nowhere by then, this thing is getting cancelled.
27/05/09 - Just a reminder: From monday you will have exactly one month to submit an audition and reference sheet. If you need more time than that, we can negotiate an extension.
IRL is what you would expect from an Original Character Tournament, or OCT. You enter a character to be pitted against another in a standard knock-out roster, the winner's entry becoming canon and continuing on to participate in future rounds. however, IRL has one distinct difference.
All entries must be done in one of two formats: A photo comic, or a short live-action video.
No comics. No animations. No prose. Simply photos or videos.
Due date: July 1st
While this does mean there will be some character limitations (which are listed in the rules section), everything else is up to the participant. Entries do not need to be professional, or even serious. So long as it conveys your character's actions and plot, it is acceptable as an entry.
As for plot, I just supply the premise. Contestants will be expected to develop the plot however they see fit, with no interference from the host.
And that's all I have to say. Auditions will open sometime in the Summer, and a chatroom has been created for people to lurk around in and talk. The link's up there, and if it doesn't work, enter any normal room and type in "/join IRL"
